GOLDWELL

Goldwell has been on the hair-care scene since 1948, when it launched in Germany with one product (a setting lotion). It has always been a line designed for and sold to salon professionals through a network of worldwide distributors, and the company remains well known in the salon industry for their educational leadership. Goldwell was purchased by Japan-based Kao Corporation in 1989. Although many of the products work quite well, this line, for all its history and education-oriented approach and the products' technically impressive names, is not all that innovative. And remember, just because a company is known for their education does not mean they're teaching hairstylists anything about how hair-care products are formulated or how the ingredients in the products function (beyond the hype and marketing language). Learning how to cut, color, perm, and style hair is vastly different from understanding what it takes to create excellent hair-care products and how various disparate ingredients work together to produce results that please consumers.

The color-enhancing mousses are unique' most of the shampoos and conditioners are respectable formulas' styling products offer some fun (and effective) alternatives to traditional products. A few of the Shampoos and conditioners contain lime oil; a few styling products have issues with flaking or are simply too ordinary for the money; a lack of substantially emollient conditioners for dry to very dry hair.
